You may not know this but there is an alternative to treating your panic attacks. You don’t have to take the pills that your doctor gives you and you can start to feel things again. These pills are often sedatives which make you feel spaced out and like you aren’t really involved in what’s happening. What causes your panic attacks to start? Is it because you have a phobia that has plagued you for years or is it because you have so much anxiety going around in your head at the moment that it can occasionally overcome you and make you feel like a panic attack is about to start? In the latter case, you need to assess how much anxiety you have and how it is affecting your life. It’s perfectly normal to worry about things every now and again but when the anxiety becomes too much and you have to deal with panic attacks, the anxiety needs to be reduced.

You can do this by changing around your lifestyle slightly and trying to steer clear of things that cause you anxiety. You can also take up your time with other activities that will help you to forget about your worries and consume your thoughts with something else. Once you can reduce your anxiety then you should notice a dramatic reduction in your panic attacks. The feeling that all your worries are overwhelming you will cease and you will be able to carry on your normal life.

If you have phobia related panic attacks then the best way to treat them is to understand your phobia. Some people have a phobia of water because they had an accident that involved water, other will have a fear of heights because they are genuinely worried that they will fall and die. Sometimes phobias don’t make any sense to us and these types of phobias can be the hardest to treat. In order to start dealing with your phobia, you should first work out where it has come from. To do this you will need the help of a counselor who will talk through your problems with you.

Once you understand your phobia then you can begin to try and overcome it (again with the help of a counselor). This process may be a long and exhausting one but it will help you to treat panic attacks effectively and ensure that they don’t come back. It is important to remember that a panic attack, phobias and anxiety is a state of mind so even if you do worry about things a lot, there is something you can do about it. You can live your life anxiety free and it’s all down to hard work and perseverance. Why not change your life from today and do something about your anxieties?
