Sedentary Lifestyles And Elevated Blood Sugar
If you’re one of the many people who have slowly fallen into a sedentary lifestyle and spend far too much time every day in a sitting position there may need to be changes on the horizon. Most of us fall into to this lifestyle slowly and before we realize it most of our day is spent sitting and we never get any exercise. What also happens is that also slowly our weight starts to creep up and before we know it the old belt doesn’t fit and it’s time for a new one. Unfortunately changes are also going on inside of our bodies and one of them is that our blood sugar levels are probably becoming elevated, leading to those unpleasant test results at our annual physical.
A look at a blood sugar levels chart showing normal blood sugar levels would show how far off your levels are and how close they are to danger levels. The biggest danger of elevated blood sugar is that if left unchecked there is a very good chance that it will develop into Type II diabetes. No one wants that or the hidden health risks it brings with it. A return to normal blood sugar levels is what is needed and there are two things to do to get started back to them.
The first is that somehow that sedentary lifestyle needs to change. That change may be hard, but look for opportunities during the day to simply move more. Walk at lunch, walk instead of driving on short errands. Find as many ways as possible incorporate more walking into the day as a person can. Walking is easy to do and needs no expensive equipment or instruction, just do it.
The second is to change what is eaten every day. Processed foods need to go and be replaced with fresh foods and whole foods. This will be the biggest change and also the hardest as years of bad habits won’t change overnight. Get started and recapture some of your youth, it can happen quicker than you think.
